Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu has set the stage for one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious mythological dramas with Kannappa, scheduled for a worldwide release on June 27, 2025. In a recent interaction, Vishnu opened up about several much-anticipated aspects of the film, including its runtime, visual spectacle, and the much-talked-about role of Prabhas.
Addressing speculation around Prabhas’ part, Vishnu confirmed that the superstar is not just making a cameo but will appear for over 30 minutes in a powerful and transformational role. Prabhas plays Rudra, a divine force who becomes a spiritual catalyst in Kannappa’s journey from a tribal warrior to a devout follower of Lord Shiva. His presence, Vishnu said, is “integral and intense,” and includes scenes with high emotional and spiritual impact.
The film’s final runtime clocks in at around 2 hours and 30 minutes, which Vishnu believes strikes the right balance between spectacle and storytelling. The movie is in its final post-production phase, with a major focus on finishing high-quality VFX work to do justice to its epic scale and mythological setting.
Kannappa also stars Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, marking his Telugu debut, alongside Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal in key roles. The ensemble cast, rich visuals, and powerful narrative promise a cinematic experience that blends devotion, drama, and divine action.
