War 2 Faces Major CBFC Cuts — More Than Just Kiara’s Bikini Scene

Yash Raj Films’ War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, has undergone significant changes before its August 14, 2025 release. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted the film a U/A-16+ certificate after trimming and modifying several sequences.

9-Second Bikini Scene Reduction

One of the most discussed edits is from the song Aavan Jaavan, where Kiara Advani appears in a bikini by a pool. The CBFC ordered a 9-second reduction in sensual visuals to align with revised certification guidelines.

Obscene Gesture & Dialogue Changes

In addition to the bikini cut, the board asked for the removal of a 2-second obscene gesture and the muting or alteration of around six lines of dialogue deemed inappropriate for younger audiences. These changes were implemented without affecting the primary storyline.

Over Six Minutes of Footage Removed

The film’s original certified runtime was 179 minutes and 49 seconds. Following additional voluntary edits by the filmmakers, the final theatrical runtime stands at 171 minutes and 44 seconds, meaning over six minutes of footage — including some action beats and pacing trims — have been cut.

Why These Edits Matter

Such trims are not unusual for big-budget films, but the scale here is notable. The changes could affect audience perception, especially among fans expecting the full-length teaser sequences shown in early promotions. However, insiders say the tightened cut makes the film’s pacing sharper for a more intense cinematic experience.
